Survey: Law is Hard - A Question and Answer Community for Law Students
[UPDATE: SOME OF THE FOLLOWING ASSUMPTIONS HAVE BEEN UPDATED/CLARIFIED FOLLOWING FEEDBACK THAT THEY WEREN'T SO CLEAR.] Hi! I'd love you to complete this really quick survey when you have a spare moment. As we're building a community that is for you, your thoughts are everything! It is basically some of our assumptions about the website and what it will do.
How closely do you identify with each of these groups?

To what degree do you have each of these problems?
1. The law is cluttered and very difficult to navigate.
Not an issue at all
Big issue for me
2. There is no easy way to find answers to questions about areas of law - reading through case law, legislation and text books is often difficult.
Not an issue at all
Big issue for me
3. People only really want to share notes on law groups. It’s often difficult to get quality and up-to-date answers to my questions about the law from my peers and elsewhere.

Big issue for me
How useful to you are each of these solutions?
1. RE PROBLEM 1 AND 2: Ensure awesome content discovery by using unique meta-tags (specific keywords pointing to particular areas of law, e.g. ‘reasonable foreseeability’ or ‘provocation’) on every thread. This will make it easier for people to find and answer your questions through our in-built search and on Google.

Very useful
2. RE PROBLEM 3: Quality is determined by the community. Everyone can up-vote and down-vote questions and answers and that determines how they ‘rank’ within the site. Contribution is incentivised by allowing people to grow reputations (e.g. when their question or answer is up-voted, etc.) A high reputation will lead to greater privileges concerning control over what content is posted on the site, and much more. Currency of information is also ensured. For example, if a question posted right now has received 100 up-votes, it would appear much higher than a question with 100 up-votes posted two days ago.

How important to you are each of these features?
Basic ‘thread features’ – ability to ‘ask’ and ‘reply’ to questions. Not that glamorous, but integral to the running of the site.
Not important at all
Very important
Ability for people to ‘rank’ questions and answers. Putting those with the most up-votes at the top, but as explained in solution 2, considering the time they were posted as well.
Not important at all
Very important
Letting people build reputations, as explained in solution 2, to let them access more on the site.
Not important at all
Very important
Adding meta-tags, as explained in solution 1.
